What age group does BIA serve?
BIA’s priority is to work with newly diagnosed children who have not had previous intervention services. Typically, BIA works with children ages 18 months to 3 years of age at intake. BIA’s afterschool Clubhouse and CREW programs serve children ages 5 and up.
What areas does BIA serve?
BIA serves the San Francisco Bay Areas of: San Francisco to Palo Alto, Inner East Bay (Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito), South to Fremont/Union City, East to Concord. BIA also serves the Fresno area including Madera, Kern and Kings Counties.
Where will treatment occur?
Treatment always occurs in the home setting. However, if a child is sufficiently progressing, transferring some hours to a community setting such as a preschool may be recommended.
Does BIA work on speech and language?
BIA has a very comprehensive curriculum, and speech and language goals are addressed daily and are a large focus of the program.
How experienced is your staff?
BIA prides itself in an excellent retention rate of staff. Supervisors at BIA are the most experienced in the industry with a 7 year average length of tenure.
How long does it take for services to start?
If BIA has an opening, the average length of time for services to start is approximately 4-6 weeks.
What is the application process?
Once you contact BIA, we will notify you as to whether we have an opening. BIA does not have a waiting list so if we do not have an opening we will urge you to check back with us in a few months and to seek alternate services in the meantime.
Should BIA have an opening we will send you an intake form to complete and schedule a free meet and greet visit. Following those two steps, we will schedule an assessment. During this process, we are very responsive and available by phone to answer your questions.
What method does BIA use?
BIA’s 20+ years of experience has allowed us to develop a highly successful, modern approach utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and adapting it to fit each child’s individualized learning style and needs. BIA’s approach is always developmentally appropriate, and incorporates a child’s interests in order to keep therapy time highly motivating.
How many hours per week do you provide?
BIA typically provides between 15-30 hours per week of intensive early intervention services. The number of hours recommended is based on your child’s needs.
